Remedies for Bad Breath

Posted by Liz Kamille on

We all get bad breath sometimes - we're only human, but no one wants to find themselves as the topic of conversation because of permanent bad breath!
Bad breath is typically caused by bacteria present on the teeth and debris on the tongue, so it's no surprise that you can get it after a garlicky meal or when you've just woken up. However, more severe cases can be a result of poor oral hygiene, gum diseases and dry mouth.
So if you're finding that bad breath is occurring more often than not, here are some remedies you can try that go beyond brushing your teeth twice a day:
Cinnamon

• Boil one teaspoon of cinnamon powder in a cup of water.

• You may add some bay leaves and cardamom too.

• Strain the solution and use it as a mouth rinse to refresh your breath.

Cloves

The easiest method is to pop a few pieces of cloves into your mouth and chew them thoroughly. This will eliminate bad breath in a few minutes.

RAW Apple Cider Vinegar

• Stir one tablespoon of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and drink it before eating your meals. The vinegar will help in digestion as well as cure bad breath.

• Gargle with apple cider vinegar mixed in a cup of water.

Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in some water and use it as a mouthwash, gargle for 10-15seconds at a time.

Baking Soda

Mix one-half teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of warm water and use it as a mouth rinse once daily until you are satisfied with the results.

Lime juice:

Rinse mouth with lime juice mixed in water.

Fenugreek:

Drink a tea made from fenugreek seeds. Put one teaspoon of seeds in half a litre of water and allow it to boil slowly at low temperature for fifteen minutes. It should then be strained and used as tea.

Aloe-vera:

Drink 1/2 cup aloe-vera juice twice a day.

Honey and cinnamon:

Gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water first thing in the morning so that breath stays fresh throughout the day.

Parsley:

Chew some parsley leaves to get rid of bad breath. Parsley contains a bacteria killing compound which helps to handle unwanted bacteria in the mouth.

Fennel Powders:

Eat fennel seeds to get rid of bad breath. It also prevents overgrowth of bacteria by alkalizing saliva.
